And the State Patrol Superintendant:

Releases this statement:

The minor change announced today to the concealed weapons bill amounts to window dressing on a very dangerous, unnecessary piece of legislation. Having more people carrying around loaded, hidden weapons under their coats during the holiday season will not make Wisconsin any safer. It could put the public at risk, and it will make the job of law enforcement more difficult and more dangerous.

The change announced today doesn't always allow law enforcement to know if a suspect is carrying a concealed weapon. Officers would still be at risk in many situations not covered by the amendment, like when they are responding to a domestic violence call, responding to someone who's not in a car, or pulling over someone who has committed a crime other than a traffic violation.

I am confident that the overwhelming majority of law enforcement, including much of the Wisconsin State Patrol, remains opposed to this legislation, which will only make their jobs harder. Concealed weapons have been illegal in Wisconsin for more than 100 years, and not coincidentally, we are one of the safest states in the nation."

After reading Jef's comments on issues it almost makes me want to become a Liberal. The only thing stopping me is that I believe that FACTS, LOGIC, and TRUTH are needed for me to hold opinions and express ideas.

I'm simply not of the mindset that I can ignore the truth, facts and logic in order to put forth my adgenda. Jef makes comments like:" I am confident that the overwhelming majority of law enforcement, including much of the Wisconsin State Patrol, remains opposed to this legislation"

This statement can not be proven and has no basis in fact at all, yet he still makes it as if it is fact. Jef, is this because you want to believe it so bad that it must be true? I guess you don't need facts, right?

You also make the statement that: "Concealed weapons have been illegal in Wisconsin for more than 100 years, and not coincidentally, we are one of the safest states in the nation."

What about Utah, which has lower crime rates across the board that Wisconsin, they have a Mandatroy Gun Ownership law on the books. Maybe owning guns makes a society safer because criminals will have to fear for their lives and safety if they attempt to perpetrate crimes. Isn't this a great deterrent to crime?

But I guess Jef will continue to ignore the facts that he doesn't like. Like almost all Liberals he will not let the truth and facts come in the way of what he believes, because if he did apply truth, facts and logic, most of his positions would simply become indefensible.

Double check the post, friend - it is not my comments, they are the comments of Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Collins.
