Come See Feingold With Hintz

Feingold to stop in Oshkosh
Appearing at Hintz headquarters grand opening Sunday
By Jeff Bollier of The Northwestern
U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold will be in Oshkosh Sunday evening in support of Democratic state Assembly candidate Gordon Hintz.

Feingold, D-Wis., is expected to speak shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday at the grand opening of the Hintz for Assembly headquarters, 683 N. Main St., the same building that contains Inner Sun Yoga Studio. Hintz is the only Democrat seeking the 54th Assembly District seat currently occupied by state Rep. Gregg Underheim, R-Oshkosh.

Feingold's visit will be part of a trip to the New North region on Sunday as he continues his efforts to get Democrats elected in key regions of the state.

"The senator and his team have been helping us in any way they can whether it's contacting his supporters or trying to get people fired up to be a part of my campaign," Hintz said.

In a July 15 WisPolitics.com article, Feingold mentioned he will support "targeted legislative races" for Hintz and two state Assembly incumbents, two state Senate candidates challenging Republican incumbents and a Democrat running for an open state Senate seat around the state.

"Our goal is to pull as many people as possible to our headquarters and get them signed up for our campaign," Hintz said.

Hintz narrowly lost to Underheim in a crowded state Assembly election in 2004. He will face the winner of a September primary between Republican challengers Julie Pung Leschke and Larry Didlo in the Nov. 7 general election.

Since I've seen other people get in trouble for making Dildo jokes on other sites, please note that I am NOT begininng my comment with one of those...it would be in poor taste and lack the gravitas for which I am known.

Congrats on the Russ date. Pretty exciting stuff, and energizing for the campaign.

For obvious reasons Feingold is cast in a mentoring role for this event. However Russ put out a fund-raising call of his own a few days ago in response to a (rumored) onslaught of applications for 15 new Feingold field organizer postions. Apparently the applicants are appealing enough that instead of weeding too many hotties out, the Feingold campaign has decided to try to add 5 more positions. Obviously $ is needed to do that.

Thought I'd mention it, just in case anyone feels like thanking Russ for coming to Oshkosh by throwing a little greenery his way.

Enjoy your event.
